From the Driver's Seat:

This page will be updated throughout the season with the latest and greatest experiences as seen from The Driver's Seat.

It will never cease to amaze me how things can change in this sport just when you think you've got a handle on it.

Pre-season testing proved to be an aggravating affair when we realized that the Kelsch Racing '69 Camaro was really going to haul the mail ... but NOT stop!!! Makes life real interesting at about 1325 feet when you apply the first of what you take for granted to be a car slowing depression of the fat pedal, only to continue zipping down the shutdown at a healthy rate of insanity. Well thanks to a stout gearbox by Competition Transmission and a lot of praying, car and driver made it back the next week after many frustrating nights with dad figuring it out. I'd go into the details but it brings back bad memories and visions of calculations and flying wrenches. Suffice it to say if you have the same brake setup as we do and you need help picking the master cylinder, talk to Dad, he's got it all figured out.

On to Englishtown N.J. for our annual trip to the Nationals. Qualifying went well and we found ourselves racing Sunday for the first time in our national event history. Although loosing to the eventual runner up, we had a lot of fun. Over all dad's first trip to the Nationals was a success.

Then there was Maplegrove and the first of what we had hoped to be eight divisional events for 2003. Rain followed by drizzle all wrapped up in cold. What a waste. The car was inconsistent as was the driver. Fortunately both were due to some mechanical failures. After a first round exit, we thought seriously about the upcoming events of the year.

The next month brought a new house, wedding plans and financial responsibilities. Although our sponsor E.D.C.S. foots most of the bills for the racing program, I was still coming up short on the personal end. Responsibility called and I answer by spending the rest of the year at our local track. Not to worry however. I am finally a homeowner and live daily in wonderful wedded bliss!! The way I see it, by the time the 2004 season rolls around, my wife Katie will be ready to get rid of me so we can once again hit the road with the Kelsch Racing, E.D.C.S. '69 Camaro.

Until next season...
